3M™ Hybrid Structural Tape Activator provides the strongest bonds when it is applied to both substrates, but significant strength is also achieved by using the activator on only one substrate. To make a bond, simply apply the solvent-based activator to one of the substrates and allow it to flash, then apply 3M™ Hybrid Structural Tape (sold separately). The tape will begin curing on contact with the activator, which is able to trigger the cure reaction in the tape for up to 4-6 hours after application to the substrate. The tape forms a strong bond with immediate handling strength, then reaches shear strength of 1 MPa in 15 minutes and full strength in 72 hours, The tape and activator can be stored at room temperature and are stable for standard shipping.
